On March 11, 2026, A.V. Damdinov, Rector of the Dorzhi Banzarov Buryat State University, met with G.P. Bazarov, representative of the Palden Tashi Drepung Gomang Monastic University (Republic of India). An agreement was signed to implement a network educational master's program in 2026-2028 in the field of 47.04.01 Philosophy, specializing in "Buddhist Hermeneutics, Scholasticism, and Methods."
Participants in the meeting included D.G. Dashibaldanov, Rector of the Damba Darzha Zayaev Dashi Choinkhorlin Buddhist University; A.A. Bazarov, Head of the Center for Oriental Manuscripts and Xylographs at the Institute of Mongolian, Buddhist, and Tibetan Studies of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences; and M.V. Zolkhoeva, Head of the Philosophy Department at BSU.
In 2026, BSU will begin enrolling students who will undergo training at our university, attending classes led by faculty representing Buryatia's leading higher education institutions and the training of Buddhist clergy, as well as scholars from the Institute of Buddhist and Theological Studies (IMBT SB RAS).
The Department of Philosophy at the Oriental Institute invites all undergraduate graduates interested in Buddhist philosophy to become the first master's students in this unique educational program, starting in 2026!
