Two weeks have passed since the beginning of my studies! Our students, who are conquering the East and undergoing internships in different countries, are ready to share their first impressions.

We are pleased to announce that we are resuming our "Conquering the East" column and starting a series of posts with a student of the Oriental Institute who went on a one-year internship in the beautiful city of Hohhot, China.

Today, Ochir Damdinovich Badaraev, a student of the 04350m group of Oriental and African Studies, specializing in East Asia in World Politics (Chinese), begins his story.

"My first impressions after coming to Hohhot were extremely positive! The city, which is a center of interaction between many cultures, welcomed us with its beautiful architecture.

At the moment, we haven't visited many places, but most of all I liked the area of the Dazhao temple, the market stall food market and the local Buryat cuisine restaurant. I was very impressed by the parks, where people gather in the evenings for dancing, singing and practicing calligraphy – a real quintessence of oriental culture!

After walking through the streets of Hohhot and enjoying the local flavor, we started studying. Classes started on September 5th, and the lessons turned out to be very interesting and extremely informative. I expect to gain maximum knowledge in the field of language and culture of the region from this language internship. I will make every effort to achieve this goal!"

Ochir, we wish you good luck in your studies and exciting new discoveries in Hohhot! We are looking forward to the following stories!
