The First Forum of Rectors of Russian and Mongolian Universities has become a landmark event in the recent history of cooperation between the two friendly nations. The initiative of Buryat State University, led by its rector A. V. Damdinov, to hold a joint bilateral forum was supported by the Russian Minister of Science and Higher Education V. N. Falkov and the Head of Buryatia, A. S. Tsydenov. The idea of organizing such a large-scale joint event involving rectors of Russian and Mongolian universities was also actively endorsed by the Mongolian side.
Today, within the framework of the forum, Buryat State University hosted bilateral talks between Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of Russia K. I. Mogilevsky and the Minister of Education of Mongolia, Purevsuren Naranbayar. The highlight of the distinguished guests' visit was the opening of the Center for Mongolian Language and Culture, which is set to play a crucial role in fostering collaboration between the two countries across various fields of academic and educational cooperation. The Center will become the world's first platform uniting all those interested in the Mongolian language and culture outside Mongolia.
Emphasizing the Center's significant mission, the Head of the Republic of Buryatia, A. S. Tsydenov, stated: "It is a great honor for us that the first Center for Mongolian Language and Culture is opening here in Buryatia. Its establishment will enable our citizens to certify their proficiency in the Mongolian language and inspire many to explore Mongolian culture and history. The opening of the Center, along with the outcomes of this forum, will greatly contribute to further strengthening our joint efforts in developing friendly interstate relations."
At the opening ceremony, BSU Rector A. V. Damdinov remarked: "Today, Buryat State University, the Republic of Buryatia, and the entire Mongolian world are witnessing an event of great significance. Together, we are inaugurating the Center for Mongolian Language and Culture, which we believe will address pressing challenges. Specialists at the Center will administer the TOMFL Mongolian language exams across four proficiency levels. We hope that as early as this year, Russian citizens and individuals from abroad will have the opportunity to take Mongolian language exams at our Center. The opening of this Center is a tremendous honor for us, and we will make every effort to ensure its operations meet the highest modern standards. We extend our special gratitude to Minister Purevsuren Naranbayar for his invaluable support in establishing this Center."
