On March 26, students of the Medical Institute of the Buryat State University named after D. Banzarov took part in the Siberian-African Youth Summit, which was held under the auspices of the Siberian-African Consortium in Yakutsk.
During the summit, the participants discussed the following issues:
1. Development of Russian-African scientific, educational, and cultural cooperation;
2. Popularization of the positive experience of Siberian universities in the study of cultural aspects of transformation and development of ethnic identity in a multicultural state;
3. Export and popularization of Russian education;
4. Increasing the number of African students and postgraduates in the consortium's universities.
At the opening ceremony, the guests and participants of the Summit were greeted by the Director of the Department of International Cooperation of the North-Eastern Federal University named after M. K. Ammosova Maksimov Nyurgun Romanovich, First Vice-Rector of the Arctic State Institute of Culture and Arts Ivanov Stanislav Semenovich.
At the plenary session, PhD in Social Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of German and French Languages Shangaeva Nadezhda Konstantinovna made a report "Educational Opportunities for African Students at Buryat State University".
Buryat State University was represented by students of the Medical Institute Valentin Odimma and Emmanuel Poiti Boussanzi.
Valentin spoke in the section "Russia-Africa: New Horizons of Cooperation". In his report, he talked about why he chose BSU, how his adaptation in Buryatia went, and what he does besides studying.
Emmanuel's speech took place in the section "From Africa to the Arctic: Art as a Visual Language". The summit participants learned about contemporary Congolese music, the characteristics of musical genres, and listened to popular Congolese performers.
