From April 24 to April 27, a large-scale visit of the Council of Universities Rectors in the Republic of Buryatia to Mongolia (Ulaanbaatar) took place.

The delegation visited the Representative Office of Rossotrudnichestvo in Mongolia, the Mongolian Academy of Sciences, the Joint Mongolian-Russian School and Mongolian partner universities.

The head of the Representative Office of Rossotrudnichestvo in Mongolia, Amgalan R. Bazarhandaev, discussed the most pressing issues of interaction between the Buryat universities and the Russian House in Mongolia-the organization of Russian language courses for Mongolian applicants and teachers of Russian in Mongolian schools, summer programs on Lake Baikal, Olympiads in Russian as a foreign language, thematic schools and scientific research in ecology, heavy industry, soil reclamation, etc.

The visits of Buryat State University Rector Aldar V. Damdinov and Vice-Rector for Digital Transformation and Development Sergei V. Arkhipov to Mongolian State University, Mongolian State University of Science and Technology, Mongolian State University of Education and Ikh Zasag International University were very productive.

They discussed the issues of strategic partnership, identified the main areas of cooperation, including new proposals for the creation of an international campus on Lake Baikal, issues of digitalization, the functioning of joint dissertation councils and others.

Our long-term partners received invitation letters to the 90th anniversary of Buryat State University. In turn, Mongolian State University invited the university leadership to celebrate their 80th anniversary in October 2022.

We can consider the first trip to Mongolia of Buryat rectors and vice-rectors after a long pause due to the pandemic quite productive and successful.
