On March 26, 2021, the Permanent Deputy Consul General of Germany in Novosibirsk, Mrs. Katrin Ebeling paid an official visit to BSU.
The meeting was held in a narrow circle with representatives of the German and French languages Department and the university leadership in a warm and friendly atmosphere. The rector of BSU N.I. Moshkin emphasized the importance of preserving German as a foreign language in the general language policy of the university, stressed the importance of interaction with German-speaking partners.
The head of the German and French Languages Department, E.Yu. Cherkun told the vice-consul about the material and technical state of the German Language Resource Center, about the initiatives and achievements of the Department in the field of cultural, educational, scientific relations with partners from Germany, Austria, Switzerland. She also thanked the General Consulate of Germany for the financial support provided in 2020.
Professor of the Department A.S. Karpov talked about the role of a teacher of German as a conductor of cultures, international relations and expressed his hope for maintaining a balance in the university language policy.
Mrs. Katrin Ebeling supported the conversation with great interest and expressed her readiness to further assist the Department and the Resource Center in expanding international relations, resuming the work of the readership of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and other issues.
The visit of the vice-consul ended with a meeting with students of the German Department at which Katrin Ebeling was able to answer all the questions of our students.
In the near future, the new Consul General of Germany, Mr. Bernd Finke, is expected to visit BSU.
