Last Friday students of various ages from the German and English departments of the Institute of Philology and Mass Communication has the chance to socialize Dirk Shtulpek, a member of the managing council of “Marwiko AG,” an organization promoting dialogue and economic partnership between German and Russian speaking peoples. The discussion lasted about two hours and covered many problematic topics for our region: the development of infrastructure, social housing, unemployment, and the possibilities of sorting and recycling trash.
Girls prepared for the meeting by analyzing information in the media and making questions beforehand. They were interested in a wide spectrum of subjects, among which include: what will Marwiko do in Buryatia in the next 10 years, will there be environmental damage to Lake Baikal as a result of Marwiko’s efforts, what profit will the company gain from realizing its projects in our Republic, how did Dirk become successful in his career and what is his average day like, how should one act in a business meeting, and does Markiwo have any projects oriented towards the arts and media?
Mr. Shturplek showed great interest in these questions, answered them to the fullest extent, and gave advice touching on cooperation and business. The meeting concluded with words of mutual thanks. Shturplek promised to support the Goethe institute scientific research center as well. In the meantime they hope to establish contacts between BGU and various universities in Berlin. Today we received a letter from Berlin, in which Mr. Shtruplek thanked us for a warm welcome and passed his regards to those who took part in the meeting. We thank our students for their motivation, interest, and creative approach!
