Last week marked the end of “English Language Week” for second year students at the Institute of Philology and Mass Communication. The event coincided with the celebration of Thanksgiving Day in certain English speaking countries. As part of the festivities, participants had the opportunity to compete by demonstrating their knowledge of the history and traditions of the holiday, and, in addition, they earned experience by using their English in practical situations. Instructors from the English Language department took charge of the jury by naming the winners of individual and group competitions and awarding them worthy prizes. Several students in particular excelled; these were: Alexandra Stepanova, Seseg Nimayeva, Anna Dameyeva, and Angelica Nikonova.
