The Head of Cambridge University department of examinations of English Gorizontova A.V. (Moscow) has paid a visit to BSU. She participated in the round table discussion devoted to problems and prospects of teaching English at non-linguistic faculties of the university. The prospects of a new Cambridge English Language Examinations Centre in BSU has been also discussed.
According to the rector’s foreign languages advisor Kovaleva L.P., the urgency of the given meeting is caused by the increasing activity of BSU on the international educational market which includes exchange programs, double degree programs, international grants and scholarship programs. Currently the university students, teachers and employees can study English at multi-level language courses, a video library of English language lectures is collected.
However, to confirm foreign language skills it is necessary to pass international certificate examinations. A new Cambridge English Language Examinations Centre in BSU would help teachers and students of high schools of Buryatia, pupils of secondary schools, post-graduate students, as well as anyone interested in studying foreign languages increase their English language skills to meet international standards and have more opportunities to study and work abroad.
