Institute of History and Philology

The Institute of History and Philology was established on September 1, 2023 by the order of the rector No. 262-OD dated May 12, 2023 on the basis of the Faculty of History, the Institute of Philology, Foreign Languages ​​and Mass Communication, the Higher School of the Buryat Language and Literature, the Department of the Buryat Language and Teaching Methods, the Department of Buryat and Evenki Philology.

Today, 117 teachers teach at the institute, including 24 doctors and 84 candidates of sciences, known for their research in the country and abroad.

The institute implements more than 20 educational programs in full-time and part-time forms of study in the following areas of training: Philology, Pedagogical Education (with 2 profiles), Linguistics, History, Sociology, Political Science, Theology, International Relations, Journalism, Advertising and Public Relations.

Science

The Institute of History and Philology fruitfully operates scientific schools under the guidance of venerable doctors of science and professors. Scientific research is conducted on the problems of regional history and archeology, socio-economic and political development of the region, as well as theoretical and applied research in the field of translation, text typology, phonological and comparative-typological analysis of languages ​​of different structures. The staff of the institute provides great assistance to modern schools in organizing conferences, seminars, improving the qualifications of teachers, publishes textbooks and teaching aids for preschool, primary and secondary school children and teachers. The Institute implements grant projects of the Russian Science Foundation, the Buddhist Education Foundation, the Fatherland History Foundation, etc.

Students of the IIF are winners of various international and all-Russian competitions, scientific conferences, Olympiads in foreign languages, linguistics, philology, history, political science, etc.
