After a long period of "silence" in connection with the quarantine measures, isolation regime and remote communication format, international activities at the university are starting to revive. On September 1, 2020, the university received the delegation of the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Irkutsk under the leadership of the Consul General, Mr. Kim Se Woong. The delegation included the Vice-consul, Mr. Park Hyungdo, the Specialist of the Politics and Economics Department of the Consulate General, Lee Jeongwoong. The delegation was accompanied by the 3rd Secretary of the Russian Foreign Ministry Office in Ulan-Ude, Shagdarova K.Yu. The visit program included a meeting with the university leadership and the Oriental Institute, an excursion to the Korean literature hall of the Scientific Library of BSU, as well as a face-to-face meeting with Korean students of the Oriental Institute.

During the meeting, cooperation issues in the field of academic mobility, student exchange and scientific field were discussed.

The Consul General expressed his readiness to assist in employing BSU graduates in various Korean and Russian-Korean companies, increasing the number of government programs for students, promoting the university on the international market, organizing online exhibitions for students, as well as employing Korean teachers of the Korean language at BSU.

In addition, according to the Consul General, the popularity of the Korean language at the university among students (more than 190 Korean students), the Center for Korean Culture, the King Sejong Institute, the only institute in the consular district, are key factors for showing interest in BSU for the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea and helping to develop and strengthen cooperation.
