Students of BSU took third place in Northern Eurasia Finals for sports programming

Teachers and students of Institute of Mathematics and Informatics congratulate the Buryat SU: 4 team (Anatoly Batalov, Erdem Vanchikov, Dugar Badagarov) and their permanent coach Alexander V. Daneev with a successful performance at the ICPC 2019-2020 International Student Programming Contest, NERC - Northern Eurasia Finals. Our students competed with Siberian universities software students at Polzunov Altai State Technical University in Barnaul. In a bitter struggle, having solved 5 tasks, our students won a first degree diploma in the Siberian group and a third degree diploma in Northern Eurasia Finals!

Student competitions started on Sunday, December 1 at 9.30 at the same time at four venues: St. Petersburg Historical Park, Altai State Technical University in Barnaul, Georgian University of Business and Technology in Tbilisi and Kazakh-British Technical University in Almaty. In total, more than 300 teams took part in the competitions.

The organizer of the Contest is the Association for Computer Machinery (ACM), an influential organization in the computer world. In recent years it has been sponsored by IBM and Microsoft. From 1977 to 1989, the USA and Canada universities teams mainly took part in the Contest. But to date, it has become a worldwide competition. Russia and former Soviet Union countries such as Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Uzbekistan, and Estonia are members of the Northeast European Region, annually delegating 10-12 of their best teams to the final tournament.
