On October 12, Buryat State University became a platform for the CHEMICAL LABORATORY CLASS educational campaign ("Mendeleev Lab").

The event was held in the framework of the International Year of the Periodic Table of Chemical Elements proclaimed by The United Nations General Assembly. The table has become a graphic expression of the Periodic Law suggested by the Russian scientist Dmitry Mendeleev in 1869.

More than two hundred people, children and adults of different ages from schools located in different districts of our Republic attended the event. The organizers suggested two versions of the quiz: the first one for children aged 6-12, the second one - for 12+ teens and adults. The Chemistry-oriented questions were designed for a wide audience. Besides, students of the Faculty of Chemistry showed some fascinating experiments to the participants.

The main purpose of the laboratory was to promote interest among the general public in natural sciences. The organizers wanted to show the participants that it is not only educative, but also interesting and exciting to do science, and to be able to find it in the most ordinary things.
